What a wonderful week! Students practiced using their Chromebooks to navigate a remote schedule, participated in a google meet morning meeting with Mrs. Boffa, and used Seesaw daily.

Second graders also began a new reading unit! During the first portion of this unit, we will focus on characters, helping readers learn all they can about main and secondary characters and to grow ideas about how they feel, as well as what they might be saying or thinking, in order to sound like the characters, reading in a way that brings them to life.

We have officially begun our writers' workshop! Our first unit will focus on writing small moment narratives, learning craft moves from master authors and texts. During this unit, we will use Owl Moon by Jane Yolen and The Leaving Morning by Angela Johnson as mentor texts. Our core ideas this week were: Writers  learn to write meaningful, beautiful stories by studying the craft of mentor authors & Writers capture everyday moments and save them as possible story ideas to write later.

In math, students are continuing to work with addition and subtraction problems through 20. We are working on our habits of interaction...how we listen, communicate, and grow our ideas! It has been a busy, fun week!

Check out these photos from this week and last!
